You didn’t think I’d write about all the countries who participated at the recent World Folk Fest and NOT dedicate a whole follow-up post to my beautiful Colombia’s performance, did you?
Of course not! So here I go!
In case you didn’t know, one thing (well one of many things, actually) that Latin Americans really (and I mean REALLY) know how to do is D A N C E.
And I don’t mean grind, or merely slide their feet left to right, or even attempt to move their hips while clapping for NO reason whatsoever (yes, I’m talking to you, square “dancing,” chicken “dance,” and that other common but still lame techno-themed “dance”). I mean dance-DANCE. Hispanics in general have an incomparable way of moving to a musical beat that just makes any spectator think they literally drank that music and are experiencing its delicious side effects. Given all this, imagine my non-surprise at finding a popular dance troupe from none other than my beautiful Colombia strutting their stuff at the recent World FolkFest in Springville. Check out my other videos and pics too and enjoy! Let them speak for themselves ; )
Left: With a few of the dancers, plus mi mami y mi papi |
In conclusion: Colombians can BRING. DOWN. A. PACKED. HOUSE. (And this isn’t an understatement: Almost every Anglo in attendance was going crazy over this troupe’s awesome Mapalé!)
