As a Psych major, I often hear my profs say, “Don’t believe what’s not scientifically based, and blah blah blah,” but I nevertheless wonder, “Who are scientists to tell me what (not) to believe when science doesn’t always explain it all?”
(That’s also a reason why I can’t stand atheists and “agnostics,” but that’s for another post :).)
So today I’m happy to talk about something that’s just plain AWESOME. It’s like a personality test, but you don’t have to do anything–just merely exist. (But don’t tell my profs I endorse it!) Seriously, the first and only step to get your results entails being born. And speaking of those results, they’re incredibly thorough; like a biography. If you like to read, then get ready because what could be better than reading about yourself?!
(Before I go on, though, I’d like to explain one thing: This isn’t some hokey quasi-scientific thing–otherwise I wouldn’t be so excited to show it to you. Instead, it’s a distillation of personality traits found during a 40-year empirical [i.e., hard-data-based] study of more than 20,000 people, organized by birthday.)
To discover what my birthday meant, I went to Secret Language and entered my birthday. According to the site, I’m an EXTENDED EXPLORER. Those born on Feb 19 are also explorers, which means we “explore [our] environment and ultimately follow [our] inquisitive instincts to far-off worlds….”
Something I thought was funny was that the site stated Feb 19-ers are “generally not the most nurturing of people.” WHOA. Haha I was definitely not expecting that because I don’t think that’s entirely true. Oh well :)!
The site not only describes the personality of those born during a certain day, but also during a particular week, month, and season*. For instance, those born during the month of February “symbolize advanced thought,” “embody the values of science and extrasensory powers,” and “are characterized by… a childlike, somewhat fanciful (but wise) attitude” even though we can be “unpredictable, eccentric and erratic.” (>> Psh, whatever.)
(* The last section kind of baffles me, though, since in Colombia, where I’m from, there aren’t any seasons. So Idk if that’s necessarily applicable.)
Besides my Secret Language name, I also wanted to find my friend Natasha’s who was born on May 22. (She’s a REVELATIONAL SERIAL EPIC.) Funny story: When we first met in school 11+ years ago, I thought she didn’t like me and that she kept competing with me, so I hated her guts. But time taught us that we were (I was) WRONG: we probably clashed b/c we’re SO alike, haha. She’s super nice, we’ve even been to concerts, and now she’s in grad school in DC, but we like to keep in touch.
Anyways, according to the site, people born on that date “have the energy required for epic feats” and “are also collectors” (of lists, facts, birthdays, objects, people, etc.). However, they “must guard against obsessive-compulsiveness in their activities and of taking on projects that are beyond them” and also “tend to file away slights and wrongs directed at them, thus creating lasting grudges.” (>>I don’t particularly think Natasha’s like that, though.) Lastly, those born in May “associate with details rather than the larger picture” whose “personality can be likened to the adolescent striving to reach young adulthood.”
Overall, I enjoyed reading the great amount of insight the site provided, but like all forms of science and studies, I’d take it with a grain of salt. Perhaps since it’s was SO thorough (which is a good thing!), I haven’t been able to look at all the aspects the site brought up. Time will tell, I guess.
(PS- Celebrities LOVE this whole Secret Language of Birthdays thing!)
Now for the FUN part!! Are you ready to discover your secret language name and how deep you are? Then go to Secret Language and enter your birth date–or that of your friends/relatives. (It’s FREE!!) Read the info and tell me what you found out! I’d love to hear about any surprises you came across or things you already felt/knew and that the site confirmed!
