About Annie

I’m Annie, a Utah-based Colombian-American, and I’ve been blogging about my adventures in the USA since the Summer of 2010.

I live in Salt Lake City Metro and I’m married to the man of my dreams. We have two living children, a little saint in Heaven, and a crazy, loveable dog.

We homeschool, learn to do things by doing them, and are able to spend so much time together as a family.

FAQ

Questions About My Blog and Me

Where do you get your images?

Though some come from my phone and separate camera, the majority of my photos are from the web. (Here are my favorite resources for getting free images.)

What’s it like to live in Utah as a Catholic?

Better than you might imagine, actually! We love it here. It’s very peaceful; the Mormons keep it clean, safe, and organized; it has a strong economy; and local policies most often match what we seek in a good place to raise a family.

Why do you seem so judgey toward working moms?

I have strong opinions about a lot of things, and I actually choose to keep most of them off this blog. However, I’m very judgmental towards moms who choose to work outside the home when they don’t have to, at the expense of their very young kids. I wish more parents spent more time with their kids.

What’s your problem with mommy vloggers?

By showing what their kids are up to and other things that should stay private or at least within the confines of their home, most of these moms (and their spineless husbands) are exploiting and violating the privacy of the very kids they’re supposed to protect. You bet I can’t stand it.

What did you study in school?

I graduated with an Honors Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, another Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Minor in Rhetoric & Writing, and a Certification in Integrated Marketing Communication.

What does your husband do for a living?

He’s a Software Developer. On his free time he smokes meats, does home renovation projects, and hangs out with us.

Why/when did you decide to stay home?

Shortly after meeting my husband, I realized that he was so good to me that he deserved someone who’d stay home to take care of him and our (future) family. One afternoon I simply told him so, along with the fact that I’d be stopping my LSAT prep indefinitely.

Why did you decide to homeschool?

When our oldest was a toddler, we were on our way home from a park when I saw students wearing face masks while playing OUTSIDE. I remember crying at how unjust that was and telling my husband about it. We then vowed our kids would never see the inside of a school if it meant they’d have to obey such nonsensical, harmful mandates.
