“Dinner” chez Cold Stone: Cookie Dough Doughn’t You Want Some |
So we made it to Cali (actually the Oakland airport, from where we took good ol’ BART down to SF) both safely and somehow a half hour earlier than expected… Once there, we ran the single errand we hd gone on that trip to begin with, and after we were done, had about 6+ hours to spare. Note to self: A LOT of time to spare in a new/foreign city + a very limited knowledge of the public transportation system + an irrational fear of being left by your plane = Not a good combination.
So my mom and I resorted to some retail therapy starting with the first non-foreign store near where we were: H&M. Is it weird that I had never been to the new H&M store here in SLC yet that became our first “tourist attraction” in SF? Sure, maybe a little :) There, I got a gorg travel tote and a couple cute tops. Then we went over to Chinatown to find us some great deals on scarfs purely based on not prior research, but rather the fact that scarfs (plus Angry Birds-themed hats) was all we kept seeing everywhere. Pics coming soon!
After all the shopping, we went over to Fisherman’s Wharf and became fluent in “F Train” routes and lingo. Once there, we walked around for a bit (my mom’s shoes were unfortunately not being very nice to her, so we didn’t do that much walking) and found the source of a series of invigorating smells that had captivated me a couple blocks back: a local Cold Stone. I hadn’t been in YEARS (perhaps since high school), so I was actually very excited.
And then it came time for us to leave CA…
