Some of My Favorite Things – Jan & Feb 2025

Told ya I’m not good at these :). More specifically, I’m not great at keeping up-to-date with these but here’s to a new year and a new tradition for creating a new type of post–one that requires that I come back here to add it regularly.

Some of my favorite things these past couple of months included:

President’s Trump 2nd Inauguration

This was such a fun watch for our family. We turned it into a mini Civics session for our kids and explained the goings-on that looked more engaging while leaving the rest streaming in the background. Carrie Underwood’s performance was unbeatable, Biden and Harris seemed done with it all (as were we!), and the Trump children came all looking like the aces that they are.

Trump’s Executive Orders

What’s not to love about a president who REALLY cares about his country, about keeping men separate from women, about keeping us safe from illegal immigrants, about stewarding our finances and ensuring our money’s well spent both here and around the world, about protecting us from Big Pharma and all the harmful “Bigs,” etc. (I could go on)?

It’s been so nice seeing the gradual shift that Trump and his administration have heralded and I look forward to once again experiencing the greatness that this country was known for.

Homeschooling

We started formally homeschooling recently and we can’t get enough. Our preschool-age son even has favorite skills he asks to practice often and it’s so nice to see not only the wheels turning but also the concepts sticking. I’ve developed a website to help other bilingual homeschooling families and should be ready to spread the word soon-ish.

It’s my Birthday Month :)

I’ve ALWAYS enjoyed my birthday month. It lets me feel special (despite not really having done anything special in particular, hehe) and I honestly like that it’s so close to Christmas. This year has been great because I’ve improved my fitness (working out now four times a week) and can definitely see the results already, so it’ll be fun to indulge a little during my birthday week while remaining conscientious that I have to keep working at my worthwhile goal.

Some of My Favorite Podcasts this Month

This is a continuation to the list I started a few months ago, where I outline two or three shows I listen to regularly and that I’d happily recommend. This month’s are:

The Brett Cooper Show

This young woman amazes me. Each video in her weeks-old channel amasses hundreds of THOUSANDS of views while her competitor who took over her previous channel (if you don’t know the drama behind the switcheroo, here’s a good primer) can barely hit a fraction of that. She’s succinct despite having long-form videos, and has really stepped it up since she began just a few years ago.

Candace

How Candace Owens does and finds seemingly SO much in so little time boggles my mind (who cares for her kids while she’s working is something I think about a lot, but that’s neither here nor there), but I don’t mind reaping the rewards of her hard work because she researches a LOT and, consequently, knows a LOT about things that I had previously not thought that much about. And I’m honestly so glad I get to hear her revelations and the mind-blowing connections she makes.

You might like these too!
