What A Great October in Utah Looks Like

I get it, you like my tips, rants, and tutorials, but sometimes you’d like to find out more about me, the gal behind the blog. Well, this post heard all your “prayers” and decided to come out of the Drafts folder and into this here blog!
The thing with being with someone for over a year is not necessarily that you get in a rut, but rather that you start looking for ways to find some variety so as to prep for a lifetime of life and activities with him.
So Chris and I may enjoy playing Grand Theft Auto and watching The Arrow, but the occasional walk around our dream neighborhoods, or adventures across the valley, definitely help revitalize our relationship.. after all, among the best ways to help couples grow is for them to discover new things together, right?
This post covers some of the things we’ve found in October that both Utahns and tourists should enjoy.
(Also, stay tuned for next week’s post, where I give you all a chance to introduce yourselves ;)!)
So what have I been up to? Well, without further ado, here’s what a great October in Utah looks like:
EARLY OCTOBER
So in early October, my department had its annual retreat, this time at Snowbird Resort. It goes for almost three days and two nights, and during it we talk strategy, bond with out our-of-state peers, learn new skills and ways to do things, and more.
This year was the first time they held a contest for a website redesign: the task was for us to make over our main Corporate page, and I WON! I’d show you what it looked like but I bet it’s confidential since it’ll play a big part into its actual future redesign, so I can’t share it. But trust me: It was legit, totally different, and I put a lot of work into both the end result and my presentation (Prezi helped, btw).

The reward was a big cash prize, but you guys, I swear I didn’t do it for the money. I wanted to not only be the first to win such a contest, but also be thought of by my superiors as the gal who kicked butt and on whom we can count for any redesign or presentation needs.
Check out more on Snowbird below…
MID OCTOBER
In mid October, The Keeper and I celebrated our 13th month. Well, we didn’t “celebrate” it, per se; we just visited the site of our first date (13 months prior), the Museum of National History of Utah, to reminisce and have a lovely afternoon:

LATE OCTOBER
October was also full of wins on all fronts, starting with the month itself: Although the Summer is my favorite season, October is a beautiful time to visit/be in Utah as the weather is gorgeous (highs in the 60s-70s on most days!) and the leaves are all a’changing.
What made it better, at least for me, was having by Date Night Essentials by my side. These essentials include Centrum VitaMints, Emergen-C Immune+ Chewables (whose immune support honestly came in handy as I got a cold just the next day that had me miss work for a couple of days!), and ChapStick Total Hydration, AKA the perfect lip gloss for beautifully dry Utah, along with my favorite essential oils.

Before discovering them, I’ll admit I didn’t know there were minty vitamins. If you’ve been looking for a refreshing way to to get your vitamins, look no further because these new Centrum VitaMints are adult multivitamins with a refreshingly minty taste you can take (or enjoy) any time of day with or without food or water.

The ChapStick Total Hydration is also a new product whose advanced nourishing formula with argan oil and avocado butter and rose hip oils instantly smooths and moisturizes and visibly renews lips. Like I said, it’s perfect for Utah!
At some point, we decided to check out Sundance Resort and explore its cute little shops and café, but it’s not a huge place so after a couple of hours that day, it was time to go.
But not before we stopped to take some more pictures and goof around a bit!

On another day, a local radio station was having a daily contest where the talk show hosts ask a news-related question and the first caller to get it right wins the prize. Well, I had been calling for weeks but every time the line was busy–until I finally got on the line, answered the question correctly (“Which airline is merging with American Airlines?” Answer: US Airways!), and WON two all-day passes to…Snowbird.
You bet The Keeper & I took full advantage of them:

And then the day before Halloween came…and went, but not before I won Best Costume at my work :D

Last but not least, Halloween, AKA the last beautiful day of the season this year! Chris and I randomly decided to check out Sundance Resort off Provo Canyon (about an hour South of Salt Lake), which made for a pretty walk and talk.
Then that evening Chris smoked our turkey (as sort of a mockup for Thanksgiving’s meal!) and everyone, it was SO GOOD! It was a wonderful meal that topped off a great day, made in part possible by those date night essentials.
Speaking of which: Don’t forget to find your date night essentials at Walmart, the hub of all things affordable and great:
Now tell me: What do YOU most enjoy about Utah in the Fall? What are YOUR date (night) essentials?
Uh, Sounds like you are TOTALLY winning at life right now! I swear, I’ve called into SO many radio contests and have never even won a penny!

giedre
Giedre, I used to be like you!! Hahaha but I persisted and kept trying and BOOM, it was one great thing after another, thank God. (There may have been a bit of Law of Attraction involved too..)
Don’t lose the faith, dear, and as always, thanks SO much for stopping by :)! You rock. XO!
