Yesterday I learned about Fr. Andrea, an Italian Priest, who recently came across some graffiti that read, “Abortion on demand (for Mary too).”
How sad yet maddening that someone would go out of their way to “post” something so despicable.
But Fr. Andreas took the high road. And let’s just say I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of his response:
Dear anonymous writer on the wall,
I’m sorry you couldn’t take an example from your mother. She had courage. She conceived you, carried on the pregnancy and gave birth to you. She could have aborted you. But she didn’t. She raised you, fed you, washed you, and dressed you. And now you have a life and freedom. A freedom you’re using to tell us that it would be better if people also like you weren’t in this world.
I’m sorry, but I disagree. And I admire your mother very much because she was brave. And she still is, because, like every mother, she is proud of you even if you behave badly, because she knows that there is still good inside of you that only needs to manage to come out.
Abortion makes nonsense of everything. Death wins against life. Fear defeats a heart that wants to fight and live, not die. It means choosing who has the right to live and who doesn’t, as if it were a simple right. It is an ideology that conquers humanity and wants to take its hope away.
You obviously have no courage. Given that you’re anonymous.
And while we’re at it, I would also like to tell you that our neighborhood has already experienced a lot of problems, and we don’t need people to vandalize the walls and ruin the little beauty we have left.
Do you want to show how brave you are? Then improve the world instead of destroying it. Give love instead of hatred. Help those who are suffering to endure their sorrows. And give life instead of taking it away! This is real bravery!
Luckily our neighborhood, which you are destroying, is full of brave people! Who know how to love you, too — you, who do not know what you are writing.
Signed,
Fr. Andrea

I especially liked how this response could very well go out to all abortion advocates out there.
(I won’t call them “pro-choice” because to be FOR killing babies is messed up.) In a few lines, Fr. Andrea basically ripped apart their illogical and cowardly argument.
So I thought I’d use Fr. Andrea’s words to craft an open letter to abortion advocates–including Planned Parenthood, where last year a) “abortion procedures jumped to 328,348 (almost a 5,000 increase from 2014-15), despite treating 100,000 fewer patients”; “prenatal care services plummeted 8,000 to only 9,418”; c) only 2,073 miscarriage care services and 2,889 adoption referrals were offered; and d) cancer screenings dropped 50%, and contraceptive services 20%.
I don’t talk a lot about these kinds of issues because it boggles my mind that someone could still be so fervently for something so inhumane and nonsensical (and also because once you find out I’m a Conservative, you’ll know what that means and won’t need constant preachy posts about my values).
But I couldn’t help it this time. I don’t get how abortion is still a thing in this land of the free AND brave, but it somehow still is, and I honestly hope it stops being “a thing” sooner than later.
Without further ado…
Abortion advocates, your mothers conceived you, carried on their pregnancies and gave birth to you. They could have aborted you. But they didn’t. And now you have a life and freedom. A freedom you’re using to tell us that it would be better if people also like you weren’t in this world.
Abortion advocates, abortion makes nonsense of everything. Death wins against life. Fear defeats a heart that wants to fight and live, not die. Yours an ideology that conquers humanity and wants to take its hope away.
Abortion advocates, do you want to show how brave you are? Then improve the world instead of destroying it. Give love instead of hatred. Help those who are suffering to endure their sorrows. And give life instead of taking it away! This is real bravery!
Lastly, abortion advocates (and doctors who somehow earned their degrees despite missing Biology 101), do something better with your time and fight for the lives of the UNBORN. Life begins at conception. CHOOSE life.

What is one thing you, too, wish you could tell abortion advocates? This is a living post so feel free to “add to it” by sharing in the comments!

Girl yes! I am not even religious and I agree with all of your arguments. I understand abortion if the mother’s life is in danger but that is it. I know that if it were between my life and the unborn child, I would choose my life and so would my husband if I were unable to make the decision. However, the fact that abortion is basically used as birth control by some people is disgusting! Condoms are not that expensive (and far less expensive than a child) so there is no reason why they can’t be used. Ugh, this topic and the way people talk about it sometimes just makes me so angry.

Jenn, such good points! How it’s talked about is definitely maddening, so it’s important we remember there are many out there like us both and that we need to let our voices be heard. Otherwise, it’ll seem like we’re OK with the disturbing status quo, which we’re trying very hard to change.
Thanks for stopping by :)!
